1 month review

So it's about 1 month after I officially launched this site. If you were with me when it first went up, you may have noticed a few minor changes. I started out getting as many things up as I could, and am now evaluating the effectivenes of some decisions and simplifying. Some of the issues around changes have to do with figuring out what works best, others are based on issues having to do with services.

Most notable changes:

  • I turned off design submissions temporarily because the screenshot service I was using ceased to function. Am considering now just allowing the submission pool to exist, but there will only be screenshots on hover using the Snap.com service.
  • I turned on interface submissions. This requires that you take a screenshot with a tool of your choice (I would recommend Skitch or Jing) and posting it to the pool.

Upcoming changes in March-April timeframe:

  • Formatting content to put out complete RSS feeds with images. Requires doing some views work on Drupal with my custom content types.
  • Feedburner email newsletter with full content in the feed including a preview of submissions.

That's it for now. I know that posting is slow, but it's regular. I'm trying to emphasize the curative nature of this site rather than going for volume. Everyone else does the volume posting well.

Please keep up the good work. I've seen many interesting things already, so you've got yourself at least one loyal reader already ;)

P.S.: I'm a freelance Drupal developer (my site: http://wimleers.com), but I've only worked with Drupal 5 so far. I was wondering if the OpenID registration workflow here on konigi was the default one? It went incredibly smooth: as it should be. Enter OpenID, approve, ready. Even my nickname etc. was filled out automatically. Very nice!

Wow, didn't realise this site was so young. I have been subscribing since 26 Feb and I really enjoy it.

I especially like the write-ups that accompany each submission. I think this lifts it into a category far higher than most other "look at this it's cool" type sites.

Always looking forward to more submissions :)

It's a great site, thanks for all your efforts! Especially the Interface section rocks. All the best to you.

The only thing that stops me from commenting is that every time I visit I have to log in again, which is too much hassle. Apart from that - wonderful stuff!

Thanks, everyone, for the feedback. It's been interesting finding my groove. If you were an iaslash reader, you may know that it took me a while to figure out my voice. In this case, it's slow going because I'm trying to develop as I blog.

Peter: Really? That's strange because I get remembered when I logged in. Wonder if it's a cookie issue. In any case, you should be able to comment by entering your info in the anonymous coment form without signing in, and check the "Save my Commment Information for Next Time" box. That will remember your info.
