Balsamiq Exports Multi-Canvas Mockups to Single PDF

Balsamiq announced that Mockups now supports export of multiple canvases to a single PDF that includes links. This means that your multi-canvas mockups can now be used as click through prototypes in Acrobat. Download the demo PDF file for a test drive.

That is excellent. My first reaction was why doesn't Omnigraffle do that, then I tested it and it does so, oh well done Omni & Balsamiq

Yeah, OmniGraffle has done that for years. I did a screencast to demo this a long time ago when I read a comment on an email list about how to do click-throughs of wireframes. You can see it in the URL below. I've used this method to create prototypes for usability testing quite a few times in the past.

And--- you can link them all together, make a screencast (using your story from your storyboard), and provide the screencast as part of your development specs. This technique called "protocasting" has saved me a lot of time recently. Thanks to Todd Warfel for this suggestion in his new book: A Practitioners Guide to Prototyping, Rosenfeld Media.
