HUGE

HUGE is a design agency specializing in websites, software applications, and branding. Their site has a modern, minimalist feel. The large bold type, their similarly selective use of large photography, and the subtle hints at the grid, lend an obvious sense of hierarchy and a clear message about what this agency is about—crisp messaging and confident design. As I look at this mosaic of screens, there's something about the openness, colors, and clear separation of large and small that is light, feels asymmetrically bold, and gives me a generally good feeling. Good timeless type, spare, bold modern layouts do that for me I guess. It's like the reaction I have walking into an Apple store, or looking at a great modern newspaper layout.

Huge has offices in Brooklyn, NY, Alpharetta, GA, Los Angeles, CA, and Malmo, Sweden.

Leica Camera AG

The Scholz & Volkmer designed flash site for Leica is a beautiful product showcase with large, sumptuous photographs by Carli Hermes that tell stories, little vignettes really, as seen through the eyes of several Leica toting characters. The direction of the vignettes is flawless, at times feeling like documentary footage, complete with Ken Burns effect panning of photographs. But something magically surreal happens when you're looking at the still photography--elements of the background, including clouds, falling leaves, and waves of water move. Stunning. Audio selection and production is also superb. Product pages on both the flash site and the white, static, regional sites are delivered with as much drama and care, while also delivering all the information a buyer requires.

Maybe.For.You

Maybe.For.You is an interactive agency in Atlanta, Georgia, that works on design for web, mobile, and desktop applications. The maybe site is clean, with a clear sense of order and solidity. Something about the dark, serious colors, the grid lines, and the tone of their messaging gives me the sense that this company takes their work very seriously, and that they're adept at the business side of things.
